Two summer shoots with singer-songwriter Laura Alden: a special look back
In the summer of 2020, I had the pleasure of experiencing two special photo shoots with the talented singer-songwriter Laura Alden. These days are still vivid in my memory — not only because of the wonderful images that were created, but also because of the unique atmosphere that surrounded the shoots.
Our first shoot took us into an open heathland, framed by tall trees and shaped by the warm light of a late afternoon. Laura brought with her this rare combination of calm and inner strength — a presence that doesn’t need to be loud to fill a space. The atmosphere was relaxed, almost quiet, allowing her personality to unfold naturally within the images.

A few weeks later, we met again — this time at Landschaftspark Duisburg. A completely different setting: raw, industrial, charged with its own distinct energy. And yet, one thing remained constant — Laura’s ability to immerse herself in the moment and carry her expression effortlessly into any environment.
When I first met Laura, she was performing as a street musician in Dublin — with remarkable success and a presence that immediately captivated people. Even then, it was clear that her journey would lead far beyond that moment.
During our shoots, she was already deeply immersed in her music. There was a sense of something growing — not yet fully visible, but undeniably present. Four years later, in 2024, she released her first EP — a significant milestone in her artistic journey. The song “Meant to” instantly resonated with me. Its melody and emotional depth carry the same atmosphere I had already felt during those shared moments.
These encounters in the summer of 2020 are, for me, more than just two shoots. They are part of a journey I had the chance to witness — through my images, and through her music, which now resonates with many others.
