For example, a single image may be listed under People, Portraits and Fashion - Editorial at the same time, or be assigned to both Fine Nude Art and Studio. Each genre highlights a different aspect of the same photograph, complementing rather than replacing one another.

About the Tags

People

People have always been at the heart of my photography. Sometimes a single glance tells the story, sometimes light takes the leading role, and sometimes it is movement, fashion or body language. People therefore serves as the main category for all photographs featuring people. The genres below describe the photographic focus of each image. Many photographs intentionally belong to more than one category – just as people themselves are rarely defined by a single facet.

Portraits

Not every photograph showing a face is automatically a portrait. A portrait begins when expression, eye contact or personality become the real story. Whether it is a classic headshot, a half-length portrait or an environmental portrait, the person always takes center stage. Clothing, surroundings and props may support the story, but they never become its main subject.

Lifestyle

Lifestyle photography captures people where stories naturally unfold – right in the middle of life. Whether travelling, exploring or enjoying everyday moments, the focus is less on the perfect pose and more on atmosphere, authenticity and the feeling of witnessing a genuine moment. The surroundings become part of the story and add another layer to every photograph.

Fashion - Editorial

After all, almost everyone wears clothes. That alone, however, does not make a photograph fashion photography. Only when styling, clothing, make-up and the overall concept become an essential part of the visual idea does it become a fashion editorial. Inspired by the visual language of magazines and campaigns, these photographs tell stories about style, creativity and personality.

Boudoir

Sensuality does not have to be loud. Sometimes a single glance, a smile or a beam of light is enough. Boudoir photography is about confidence, elegance and personality rather than provocation. Lingerie, fabrics and an intimate atmosphere support the image, while character, presence and natural beauty remain the true focus.

Fine Nude Art

Fine Nude Art is far more than classical nude photography. Sometimes a shoulder, a hand or the subtle suggestion of a body line is all it takes. What matters is not how much skin is visible, but how light, shape and composition come together. The human body becomes part of the visual language – shaped by light, shadow and lines, almost like a sculpture. The degree of nudity is of secondary importance; what truly matters is the artistic expression. The focus lies on aesthetics, tranquillity and emotion – never on nudity itself.

La Beauté du Ballet

Ballet is far more than dance. It is discipline, elegance and passion combined. These photographs capture not only perfect poses and spectacular leaps, but also the quiet moments in between. Strength, movement and expression merge into a visual language that reveals the beauty of classical ballet – both on stage and in extraordinary locations.

Cosplay

When imagination meets creativity, worlds come to life that seem both fictional and wonderfully real. Elaborate costumes, impressive make-up and distinctive characters blend with atmospheric locations to create photographs that exist somewhere between reality and fantasy.

Abstract

Not every photograph needs an explanation. Some images are driven by shapes, colours, light and textures, leaving room for personal interpretation. Abstract photography invites you to look beyond the obvious, discover familiar things from a different perspective and simply let your imagination wander.

Art

Some ideas begin long after the shutter has been released. Creative retouching, compositing and digital techniques – occasionally supported by artificial intelligence – extend photography beyond reality and open the door to entirely new visual worlds. The result is a collection of images that exist somewhere between photography and digital art.

Sometimes all it takes is a single moment to reveal the beauty of our world. Lifestyle & Decorative

Atmosphere is often created by the smallest details. Carefully designed interiors, decorative elements and harmonious arrangements demonstrate how light, colour and composition can transform everyday scenes into inspiring visual experiences. Here, the focus is on spaces, decoration and interior design rather than on people.

Motorsport

Passion for technology and speed has many faces. Whether it is historic classics, fascinating vehicle details or dynamic moments from the world of motorsport, this gallery celebrates power, precision and the timeless fascination of extraordinary machines. Sometimes a single detail is enough to make every motorsport enthusiast smile.

Still Life

Some subjects need neither people nor movement to capture attention. Through thoughtful lighting, composition and perspective, everyday objects become visual stories of their own, revealing the beauty of shapes, materials and textures. Quite often, it is the smallest details that hold the viewer's attention the longest.

On Location

Not every photograph is created within the walls of a studio. On Location identifies all images taken in real-world settings – whether surrounded by nature, inside historic buildings, against urban backdrops or at extraordinary lost places. The location becomes an essential part of the composition, adding atmosphere and character to the final image. This category does not describe the subject itself, but the environment in which the photograph was created.

Studio

Studio photography offers complete creative control. Light, shadow, backgrounds and composition can all be carefully shaped to bring an idea to life exactly as envisioned. From simple portraits to elaborate artistic concepts, the studio provides almost limitless creative possibilities. Like On Location, this category describes the environment in which a photograph was created rather than its subject.

Out of the Cam

Not every photograph requires extensive post-processing. Images in this category remain intentionally close to the original capture. After careful RAW development, only subtle adjustments such as colour, contrast or exposure are applied, preserving the authentic character and atmosphere of the original photograph.

The body becomes an interplay of curves, angles and illuminated surfaces. Reduced to black and white, a narrow light traces the back, shoulders and legs while the remaining form dissolves into deep darkness. The compact pose turns the human figure into an almost graphic composition – physical and present, yet increasingly abstract. – Der Körper wird zu einem Zusammenspiel aus Kurven, Winkeln und beleuchteten Flächen. Auf Schwarz und Weiß reduziert, zeichnet eine schmale Lichtführung Rücken, Schultern und Beine nach, während die übrige Form im tiefen Schwarz verschwindet. Die kompakte Haltung verwandelt die menschliche Figur in eine beinahe grafische Komposition – körperlich und präsent und zugleich zunehmend abstrakt.

In northern Vietnam, two small wooden boats rest almost unnoticed among dense carpets of aquatic plants and scattered pink water lilies. Nature seems to reclaim the water around them, blurring the boundary between river, vegetation and human presence. The weathered boats add a quiet trace of everyday life to a scene dominated by lush green and the gentle disorder of nature. – Im Norden Vietnams liegen zwei kleine Holzboote beinahe unbemerkt zwischen dichten Teppichen aus Wasserpflanzen und vereinzelten rosafarbenen Seerosen. Die Natur scheint das Wasser um sie herum zurückzuerobern und lässt die Grenzen zwischen Fluss, Vegetation und menschlicher Präsenz verschwimmen. Die verwitterten Boote hinterlassen eine leise Spur des Alltags in einer Szenerie, die von sattem Grün und der sanften Unordnung der Natur bestimmt wird.

Somewhere between Hanoi and Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, two farmers work their way through the flooded rice fields, tending the young plants by hand. Traditional conical hats offer protection from the sun, while water, mud and repetition define the rhythm of a working day shaped by agriculture. In black and white, the scene loses the distraction of colour and concentrates on gesture, structure and the quiet persistence of manual labour. – Irgendwo zwischen Hanoi und der Halong-Bucht in Vietnam arbeiten sich zwei Bauern durch die gefluteten Reisfelder und kümmern sich von Hand um die jungen Pflanzen. Traditionelle Kegelhüte schützen vor der Sonne, während Wasser, Schlamm und stetige Wiederholung den Rhythmus eines von Landwirtschaft geprägten Arbeitstages bestimmen. In Schwarz-Weiß verliert die Szene die Ablenkung durch Farbe und konzentriert sich ganz auf Gestik, Struktur und die stille Beharrlichkeit körperlicher Arbeit.

Four candles cut through the darkness while her face remains caught between light and obscurity. Lace, soft contours and the restrained glow create an intimate atmosphere that feels almost removed from time. There is no need for movement or gesture – the lowered gaze and the stillness of the scene carry the photograph, somewhere between contemplation, sensuality and quiet mystery. – Vier Kerzen durchbrechen die Dunkelheit, während ihr Gesicht zwischen Licht und Verborgenheit bleibt. Spitze, weiche Konturen und das zurückhaltende Leuchten schaffen eine intime Atmosphäre, die beinahe aus der Zeit gefallen scheint. Bewegung oder große Gesten braucht es nicht – der gesenkte Blick und die Ruhe der Szene tragen das Bild, irgendwo zwischen Nachdenklichkeit, Sinnlichkeit und einem Hauch von Geheimnis.

A body emerging from darkness, defined by little more than a narrow trace of light. The hair falls across the face like a natural veil, leaving identity behind and shifting the focus entirely to form, skin and contour. Reduced to black, white and subtle shades of grey, the image lives from what the light reveals – and everything it deliberately leaves unseen. – Ein Körper, der aus der Dunkelheit hervortritt und kaum mehr als eine schmale Lichtspur benötigt, um sichtbar zu werden. Das Haar fällt wie ein natürlicher Schleier über das Gesicht, nimmt dem Bild die Identität und lenkt den Blick ganz auf Form, Haut und Kontur. Reduziert auf Schwarz, Weiß und feine Grautöne lebt die Aufnahme von dem, was das Licht zeigt – und von allem, was es ganz bewusst verborgen lässt.

"Pasta la Vista" | TotalBlue by Frank Eckgold — "Pasta la Vista"
Tomatoes, tagliatelle, spaghetti and plenty of patience – what might sound like the ingredients for an Italian pasta dish became something rather different here. Every single piece was carefully arranged on the model's head, turning pasta and tomatoes into an elaborate headpiece. A surprisingly time-consuming creation somewhere between fashion, food and a healthy dose of irony. – Tomaten, Tagliatelle, Spaghetti und jede Menge Geduld – was zunächst nach den Zutaten für ein italienisches Pasta-Gericht klingt, wurde hier etwas anders serviert. Jedes einzelne Teil wurde sorgfältig auf dem Kopf des Models arrangiert, bis aus Nudeln und Tomaten ein aufwendiger Kopfschmuck entstand. Eine erstaunlich zeitintensive Kreation irgendwo zwischen Fashion, Food und einer guten Portion Ironie.

"Haute Cuisine" | TotalBlue by Frank Eckgold — "Haute Cuisine"
An Italian pasta dish – just not quite the way you would expect it to be served. Tomatoes, tagliatelle, spaghetti and assorted pasta were carefully arranged into an extravagant headpiece, requiring considerably more time and patience than preparing a decent plate of pasta. Haute cuisine meets fashion editorial – and dinner ends up on the head instead of the table. – Ein italienisches Pasta-Gericht – nur nicht ganz so serviert, wie man es erwarten würde. Tomaten, Tagliatelle, Spaghetti und verschiedenste Nudeln wurden sorgfältig zu einem extravaganten Kopfschmuck arrangiert, der deutlich mehr Zeit und Geduld erforderte als ein ordentlicher Teller Pasta. Haute Cuisine trifft Fashion Editorial – und das Abendessen landet auf dem Kopf statt auf dem Tisch.

"Lost in a Moment" | Sarah by Frank Eckgold — "Lost in a Moment"
Some moments seem to drift away from everything around them. A table, a quiet gesture, a gaze that has already wandered somewhere else. Nothing asks for attention, nothing needs to happen. Perhaps that is exactly what makes the moment feel so personal – being present while the thoughts are somewhere entirely different. – Manche Augenblicke scheinen sich von allem um sie herum zu lösen. Ein Tisch, eine ruhige Geste, ein Blick, der längst irgendwohin gewandert ist. Nichts verlangt nach Aufmerksamkeit, nichts muss geschehen. Vielleicht wirkt der Moment gerade deshalb so persönlich – anwesend zu sein, während die Gedanken längst ganz woanders sind.

There are moments when confidence needs no audience. Eyes closed, the world seems to disappear for a second, leaving only posture, gesture and a touch of extravagance. The sweeping brim becomes almost a stage of its own – framing a moment somewhere between elegance and attitude. – Es gibt Momente, in denen Selbstbewusstsein kein Publikum braucht. Die Augen geschlossen, scheint die Welt für einen Augenblick zu verschwinden – übrig bleiben Haltung, Gestik und eine Spur Extravaganz. Die ausladende Hutkrempe wird dabei fast selbst zur Bühne und rahmt einen Moment irgendwo zwischen Eleganz und Attitüde.

Light does not reveal her. It only traces what the darkness allows – the curve of a shoulder, the line of a face, the quiet tension held within her body. Everything else is left untouched, disappearing into black. A presence defined not by what can be seen, but by what remains just beyond it. – Das Licht enthüllt sie nicht. Es zeichnet nur nach, was die Dunkelheit zulässt – die Rundung einer Schulter, die Linie des Gesichts, die leise Spannung ihres Körpers. Alles andere bleibt unberührt und verliert sich im Schwarz. Eine Präsenz, die nicht durch das Sichtbare entsteht, sondern durch das, was sich ihm entzieht.

A moment that seems to belong only to her. Her gaze drifts somewhere beyond the frame, while light settles softly across skin and hands. There is intimacy without invitation, sensuality without display – as if the camera had caught a thought before it could disappear. Close enough to feel, distant enough to remain her own. – Ein Moment, der nur ihr selbst zu gehören scheint. Ihr Blick verliert sich irgendwo außerhalb des Bildes, während sich das Licht sanft über Haut und Hände legt. Da ist Intimität ohne Einladung, Sinnlichkeit ohne Inszenierung – als hätte die Kamera einen Gedanken eingefangen, bevor er verschwinden konnte. Nah genug, um ihn zu spüren, und fern genug, um ganz bei ihr zu bleiben.

The light does not reveal her – it traces her. A shoulder, the curve of a waist, the gentle rise and fall of the body appear for a moment before dissolving again into black. There is no need to see everything. What darkness keeps for itself gives the imagination room to complete what the light has only begun. – Das Licht enthüllt sie nicht – es zeichnet sie. Eine Schulter, die Linie der Taille, das sanfte Auf und Ab des Körpers erscheinen für einen Moment, bevor sie sich wieder im Schwarz verlieren. Es ist nicht nötig, alles zu sehen. Was die Dunkelheit für sich behält, gibt der Fantasie den Raum, das zu vollenden, was das Licht nur begonnen hat.

She turns away from everything that asks to be seen. Eyes closed, her face rests at the edge of the light while the darkness slowly takes back everything around her. Nothing remains but a trace of expression, the warmth of skin and a moment that seems entirely her own. Some feelings become clearer when the world around them disappears. – Sie wendet sich ab von allem, was gesehen werden will. Die Augen geschlossen, liegt ihr Gesicht am Rand des Lichts, während die Dunkelheit langsam alles um sie herum zurücknimmt. Es bleibt nur eine Spur von Ausdruck, die Wärme der Haut und ein Moment, der ganz ihr selbst zu gehören scheint. Manche Gefühle werden deutlicher, wenn die Welt um sie herum verschwindet.

Nothing asks for attention, nothing needs to be explained. Just a quiet moment of being close to oneself – delicate, unguarded and entirely present. – Es gibt Momente, die keinen Blick nach außen brauchen. Die Augen geschlossen, die Hände sanft auf den Schultern, scheint die Welt ein kleines Stück weiter wegzurücken. Nichts verlangt nach Aufmerksamkeit, nichts muss erklärt werden. Nur ein stiller Moment des Bei-sich-Seins – fein, ungeschützt und ganz im Augenblick.

She does not emerge from the darkness – the light finds her there. It touches only what it needs, following the warmth of skin before surrendering again to black. What remains is less a body than a fleeting presence, suspended between revealing and disappearing. Perhaps beauty sometimes begins exactly where we can no longer see everything. – Sie tritt nicht aus der Dunkelheit hervor – das Licht findet sie dort. Es berührt nur, was es braucht, folgt der Wärme der Haut und gibt sie dann wieder dem Schwarz zurück. Was bleibt, ist weniger ein Körper als eine flüchtige Präsenz, schwebend zwischen Sichtbarwerden und Verschwinden. Vielleicht beginnt Schönheit manchmal genau dort, wo wir nicht mehr alles sehen können.

As if gravity had forgotten her for a moment. She rises from the white, carried by nothing but her own movement, suspended somewhere between earth and air. Every curve seems to follow an invisible rhythm, while the light gently dissolves the boundaries between body and space. A fleeting balance – fragile, free, almost weightless. – Als hätte die Schwerkraft sie für einen Moment vergessen. Sie erhebt sich aus dem Weiß, getragen nur von ihrer eigenen Bewegung, schwebend irgendwo zwischen Erde und Luft. Jede Kurve scheint einem unsichtbaren Rhythmus zu folgen, während das Licht die Grenzen zwischen Körper und Raum sanft auflöst. Ein flüchtiges Gleichgewicht – zerbrechlich, frei, beinahe schwerelos.

For a moment, the ordinary seems to lose its boundaries. Warm light, fiery red hair and a distant gaze create the impression of a figure who belongs somewhere between reality and imagination. The pointed ears may tell of another world – but it is the quiet expression that leaves the story open. – Für einen Moment scheint das Gewöhnliche seine Grenzen zu verlieren. Warmes Licht, feuerrotes Haar und ein Blick in die Ferne lassen eine Figur entstehen, die irgendwo zwischen Realität und Fantasie zu Hause sein könnte. Die spitzen Ohren erzählen vielleicht von einer anderen Welt – doch erst der ruhige Ausdruck lässt die Geschichte offen.

Red fills the frame with warmth and intensity, while white creates a clear, almost graphic contrast. Between the folds of fabric, the relaxed pose and direct gaze turn a simple moment into something confident and sensual. Sometimes a strong image needs little more than two colours, a clear composition and presence. – Rot füllt das Bild mit Wärme und Intensität, während Weiß einen klaren, fast grafischen Kontrast setzt. Zwischen den Falten des Stoffes machen die entspannte Pose und der direkte Blick aus einem einfachen Moment etwas Selbstbewusstes und Sinnliches. Manchmal braucht ein starkes Bild nicht mehr als zwei Farben, eine klare Komposition und Präsenz.

A vessel from another time, a body emerging from darkness. Light touches stone and skin alike, tracing surfaces, curves and fragments while leaving the rest to the imagination. For a moment, the boundaries begin to blur: between object and figure, strength and vulnerability, presence and disappearance. – Ein Gefäß aus einer anderen Zeit, ein Körper, der aus der Dunkelheit hervortritt. Das Licht berührt Stein und Haut gleichermaßen, zeichnet Oberflächen, Kurven und Fragmente nach und überlässt den Rest der Vorstellung. Für einen Moment beginnen die Grenzen zu verschwimmen: zwischen Objekt und Figur, Stärke und Verletzlichkeit, Präsenz und Verschwinden.

Sometimes the most memorable images happen when nobody is actually shooting. During a short break in one of my workshops at the Homburger Papiermühle, the camera stayed close enough to capture this moment. And then there is the couch. Anyone who has photographed at this location will probably recognize it immediately. Over the years, it has appeared in countless shoots and has long since achieved something close to cult status far beyond the region. The small inset shows a photograph I took directly afterwards, as an example for my workshop participants of how the couch and model could be staged together. – Manchmal entstehen die besonderen Bilder genau dann, wenn eigentlich gerade niemand fotografiert. Während einer kurzen Pause bei einem meiner Workshops in der Homburger Papiermühle blieb die Kamera trotzdem griffbereit – und so entstand dieser Moment. Und dann wäre da natürlich noch die Couch. Wer schon einmal in dieser Location fotografiert hat, dürfte sie sofort erkennen. Im Laufe der Jahre diente sie bei unzähligen Shootings als Motiv und hat längst weit über die Region hinaus einen gewissen Kultstatus erreicht. Das kleine Bild oben rechts entstand direkt im Anschluss und diente meinen Workshop-Teilnehmern als Beispiel und Orientierung dafür, wie sich Couch und Model gemeinsam in Szene setzen lassen.

The street, the cardigan, the boots — nothing spectacular on its own, yet together they create that effortless mix of fashion and everyday life. – Kein Grund zur Eile. Sie bleibt noch einen Moment an der Bank, irgendwo zwischen lockerer Pose und nachdenklicher Pause. Die Straße, der Cardigan, die Boots – für sich genommen nichts Spektakuläres, doch zusammen entsteht genau diese ungezwungene Mischung aus Fashion und Alltag.

A small movement can change an entire photograph. Leaning forward, wrapped loosely in her cardigan, her expression becomes more direct and the easy street scene gains a little edge. Still casual, still effortless — just with a different attitude. – Eine kleine Bewegung kann ein ganzes Bild verändern. Nach vorn gelehnt, locker in den Cardigan gehüllt, wird ihr Blick direkter und die entspannte Straßenszene bekommt etwas mehr Kante. Noch immer lässig, noch immer ungezwungen – nur mit einer anderen Haltung.

A smile changes everything. What begins as a casual fashion portrait suddenly feels open, warm and completely unforced. Sitting by the roadside, she turns a simple everyday setting into a moment full of personality — somewhere between editorial style and real life. – Ein Lächeln verändert alles. Was zunächst wie ein lässiges Fashion Portrait wirkt, wird plötzlich offen, warm und völlig ungezwungen. Am Straßenrand sitzend macht sie aus einer einfachen Alltagsszene einen Moment voller Persönlichkeit – irgendwo zwischen Editorial Style und echtem Leben.

Fashion becomes part of an everyday scene — relaxed, personal and somewhere between posing and simply being. – Für einen Moment scheint die kleine Straße ihr allein zu gehören. Die Augen geschlossen, das Gesicht dem Licht zugewandt, lässt sie alles um sich herum unbeachtet. Fashion wird Teil einer alltäglichen Szene – entspannt, persönlich und irgendwo zwischen Pose und einfachem Sein.
