An Encounter Before the Great Journey
Katarzyna, today known primarily as cat_en_flow, and I first met in the winter of 2021. At the time, the French model and yoga performer was touring Germany and happened to be nearby for a short while. I invited her to a casting at my studio — and what was initially meant to be a first meeting immediately turned into an extensive photo shoot.

From that very first encounter, it became clear how naturally Katarzyna combines body control, movement, and expression. Her experience as a yoga performer opens up possibilities in front of the camera that go far beyond conventional posing. Posture and body tension never feel staged, but instead become part of her own natural form of expression.

Our first shoot was followed by a photography workshop together. There, too, her particular strengths became apparent: exceptional body control combined with calm, professionalism, and the ability to adapt flexibly to very different photographic ideas.

Some of the photographs created during that time later found their place in my Fine Art Book "The Darkness of Light". There, Katarzyna appears under her former artist name Catbardot. Her model and artist names have changed several times over the years; she can currently be found as cat_en_flow.

After this brief but intensive collaboration, our paths separated again. Katarzyna continued her journey — and what had begun as a tour eventually became something much bigger. As a yoga model and performer, she began travelling the world, presenting her distinctive combination of movement, body art, and performance to an international audience.

Her journey has since taken her across every continent and brought her international recognition. Looking back at the images we created in the winter of 2021, they now capture something more than our brief collaboration: an encounter at a moment when an extraordinary journey was just beginning to unfold.

There is a quiet strength in complete surrender. Suspended between tension and release, the body transforms into a sculptural expression where light reveals only what silence is willing to share. The darkness does not conceal the moment—it gives it the space to breathe. – In völliger Hingabe liegt eine stille Kraft. Zwischen Spannung und Loslassen wird der Körper zu einer skulpturalen Form, in der das Licht nur das offenbart, was die Stille preisgeben möchte. Die Dunkelheit verbirgt diesen Moment nicht – sie gibt ihm den Raum, zu atmen.

Some moments never ask to be seen—they simply exist between light and darkness. Wrapped in silence, she becomes part of the shadow itself, while every illuminated strand of hair and every gentle contour tells a story of quiet elegance. It is not the body that draws the eye, but the feeling of a fleeting moment that cannot be held. – Manche Momente verlangen nicht danach, gesehen zu werden – sie existieren einfach zwischen Licht und Dunkelheit. Von der Stille umhüllt, wird sie selbst ein Teil des Schattens, während jede vom Licht berührte Haarsträhne und jede sanfte Kontur von leiser Eleganz erzählen. Nicht der Körper steht im Mittelpunkt, sondern das Gefühl eines flüchtigen Augenblicks, der sich nicht festhalten lässt.

There are moments when the world falls away and only silence remains. Hidden between shadow and light, she withdraws into herself—not in fear, but in quiet reflection. Every line, every contour becomes a whispered thought, revealing that true beauty often begins where words come to an end. – Es gibt Momente, in denen die Welt verstummt und nur die Stille bleibt. Zwischen Licht und Schatten zieht sie sich in sich selbst zurück – nicht aus Angst, sondern aus stiller Einkehr. Jede Linie, jede Kontur wird zu einem geflüsterten Gedanken und erzählt davon, dass wahre Schönheit oft dort beginnt, wo Worte enden.

There are places that exist only in silence. Bathed in soft light and framed by timeless architecture, the figure withdraws into herself, becoming less a subject than a quiet sculpture. In this stillness, vulnerability is transformed into grace, and every gentle curve becomes part of a calm, almost sacred harmony. – Es gibt Orte, die nur in der Stille existieren. Umgeben von sanftem Licht und zeitloser Architektur zieht sich die Figur ganz in sich selbst zurück und wird weniger zum Motiv als zu einer stillen Skulptur. In dieser Ruhe verwandelt sich Verletzlichkeit in Anmut, und jede sanfte Linie wird Teil einer fast sakralen Harmonie.

Light does not simply reveal the body here — it shapes it. It follows every curve, touches the skin for a moment and then disappears again into the darkness. What remains is a quiet interplay of strength and vulnerability, form and feeling, presence and restraint. – Das Licht zeigt hier nicht einfach den Körper – es formt ihn. Es folgt jeder Linie, berührt für einen Moment die Haut und verschwindet wieder in der Dunkelheit. Zurück bleibt ein ruhiges Zusammenspiel aus Stärke und Verletzlichkeit, Form und Gefühl, Präsenz und Zurückhaltung.

Not every gesture seeks attention. Some become a silent language, written in light, balance and absolute trust. The body unfolds like a living sculpture, where strength and fragility exist at the same time, inviting the viewer to discover beauty beyond the obvious. – Nicht jede Geste verlangt nach Aufmerksamkeit. Manche werden zu einer stillen Sprache, geschrieben aus Licht, Balance und vollkommenem Vertrauen. Der Körper entfaltet sich wie eine lebende Skulptur, in der Kraft und Zerbrechlichkeit zugleich existieren und den Blick einladen, Schönheit jenseits des Offensichtlichen zu entdecken.

In perfect balance, movement comes to rest. The body becomes geometry, the light becomes structure, and silence fills the space between both. What remains is not a pose, but a moment where discipline, elegance and quiet beauty merge into a single form. – In vollkommener Balance kommt die Bewegung zur Ruhe. Der Körper wird zur Geometrie, das Licht zur Struktur, und die Stille füllt den Raum dazwischen. Was bleibt, ist keine Pose, sondern ein Augenblick, in dem Disziplin, Eleganz und leise Schönheit zu einer einzigen Form verschmelzen.
