Motorsport Photography Nürburgring
Motorsport photography from a fan’s perspective — on the road at the Nürburgring and beyondMotorsport — especially on four wheels — has fascinated me since childhood. I can’t really say where this affinity comes from. As a fan, I was usually on the road with little or no equipment at all, and for a long time I hardly explored this field photographically.
For me, as someone who grew up in the Ruhr region, the Nürburgring is the first address when it comes to thrilling motorsport. Other race tracks are simply too far away for day trips. Events such as auto slalom, motocross, or club racing are different — they often take place within easy reach and offer exciting subjects for my motorsport photography.
Recently, I have decided to give this topic more photographic attention. Even though I don’t expect spectacular images from major or smaller race tracks — not because of a lack of skill, but because the best motorsport photographs thrive on exceptional perspectives. And as a fan, standing behind the fence or sitting in the grandstands, those perspectives are simply not accessible.
I have never applied for photographer accreditation — for example at the Nürburgring — and I do not plan to do so in the future, even though it would provide exactly those viewpoints. As a result, breathtaking angles remain out of reach for me in most cases.
For me, motorsport photography is a personal project — it is not part of my professional portfolio as a photographer. Everything you see here is created purely out of passion: without assignments, without accreditation, but with a great deal of dedication.
Let’s see how the 2025 motorsport season develops for me photographically.
