dunkelbuntpoesie
dunkelbuntpoesie – a project between poetry and portraitdunkelbuntpoesie is a shared passion project that Nadine Seranski (@dunkelbuntpoesie) and I brought to life in 2020. It combines our love for language and imagery — for words and visual impressions.
At the heart of the project are lyrical texts, fragments of thoughts, and poems that enter into a poetic dialogue with expressive photography. The fusion of these two forms of expression reaches its peak in a poetry book that not only touches through words, but is also visually complemented and deepened by striking portraits.
When Nadine writes and Frank sees — dunkelbuntpoesie is born
Nadine Seranski — the word artist & Frank Eckgold — the photographer
We tell stories of dreams and longing,
of love, heartbreak, and everything that lives between the lines.
Lyrics, poetry, and thoughts — sensitively shaped into words by Nadine,
captured in atmospheric and expressive images by Frank.
dunkelbuntpoesie — when words and images breathe together.
about Nadine
Since the age of twelve, I have been a passionate head-in-the-clouds dreamer. Time and again, this has given rise to texts about the fascination of nature, about love, life — and heartbreak.
At the age of 22, I discovered my second passion: modeling. Since then, I have been standing in front of the camera more or less regularly. Combining both passions and creating images that speak — that tell entire stories — fascinates me deeply.
I invite you to join me on this journey — perhaps together we can escape everyday life for a moment and immerse ourselves in darkly colorful dreams.
So, how did all of this actually begin from Frank’s point of view? Nadine and I met in early 2008 in a photo studio in Lünen. She introduced herself as a model — or was I the one who approached her? Hmm… I honestly don’t remember anymore. Either way, we had our first shoot. And one of the photos from back then is cheekily shown here. And what did Nadine say about the image? At the time — her exact words — she was a “cute 22”.
Over the next four months, we had several more shoots, but then we lost touch — for a casual eleven years!
In 2019, I was casually scrolling through Instagram when Nadine’s profile suddenly appeared. Her photos? Absolutely stunning! It was immediately clear to me: this woman had to be in front of my camera again. But as life goes, things sometimes take their time. And then came Corona, bringing all plans to a complete standstill.
You can tell — a real rocket start looks different.
During the lockdown, I had more time to take a closer look at Nadine’s Instagram account. And suddenly I thought: this combination of poetry and photography deserves more than just a few likes and comments on social media. That’s when the idea for dunkelbuntpoesie was born — and fortunately, I was able to convince Nadine of it.
In June 2020, after twelve years, we finally met again — and got straight to work. The first shoot? A complete success. And it didn’t stop there. Over the years, many more shoots followed, each with its own mood, its own story.
Gradually, the texts were added — thoughts, poems, small stories. What started as an idea slowly evolved into a real project: the connection of photography and poetry. Images that are not just meant to be seen, but to tell a story. Words that are not just meant to be read, but to be felt.
