Two summer shoots with singer-songwriter Laura Alden: a special look backIn the summer of 2020, I had the pleasure of experiencing two special photo shoots with the talented singer-songwriter Laura Alden. These days are still vivid in my memory — not only because of the wonderful images that were created, but also because of the unique atmosphere that surrounded the shoots.
Our first shoot took place in the middle of a heathland landscape, surrounded by tall trees. Laura arrived with her unmistakable presence — she has a calm strength that instantly fills a space. The afternoon sun gave us the perfect light to capture her natural beauty and her depth as an artist. It was a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere in which Laura’s personality was effortlessly reflected in the images.
A few weeks later, we met again for the second shoot, this time at Landschaftspark Duisburg. Once again, Laura managed to transfer her energy and unique style directly into the photographs.
During these shoots, Laura was deeply immersed in working on her music, and it was clear that something significant lay ahead of her. Four years later, in 2024, she released her first EP — a milestone in her musical career. The song Meant To in particular immediately captivated me. Its melody and emotional lyrics move me every time and bring me back to those summer moments when I was able to witness her creative journey up close.
It was a special experience to accompany Laura along part of her path — both through the lens of my camera and through her music, which now inspires many others as well. The shoots with her in the summer of 2020 remain a valuable chapter for me, closely connected to her development as an artist.
