La Beauté du Ballet

La Beauté du Ballet – the beauty of classical dance in color, form, and emotion

Classical ballet touches in a quiet yet powerful way. The control of the body, the lightness of movement, the tension between discipline and expression — all of this has fascinated me for as long as I can remember.

With La Beauté du Ballet, I explore this fascination through a personal photographic project: intense, reduced, and guided by a distinct focus on lines, posture, and presence.

Dance is more than movement — it is a language.

And in classical dance, this language reveals itself in a particularly elegant way.

With this project, I am not interested in stage performances or documentary scenes. Instead, I search for the moments in between: when physical tension meets emotion, when light meets posture — that is where the images I want to show with La Beauté du Ballet are created.

This project is not about perfection. It is about expression, presence, and personality.

La Beauté du Ballet is a long-term artistic project. In collaboration with different dancers, expressive portraits are created — photographed in the studio or on location, clearly composed and developed in vibrant color or black and white.

The images do not show “the dance” itself, but the dancer — and what becomes visible through dance.

In the long term, the series may also evolve into a printed book or an exhibition. Where exactly this journey will lead remains open. The project is meant to grow, to evolve, to take shape over time.

Do you dance classical or contemporary, are you a ballet student, dance teacher, or simply a passionate dancer?

Then I would love to invite you to become part of this project. I am looking for dancers who want to create images together with me — not (just) for likes, but for art. In a relaxed atmosphere, with mutual respect and a shared vision.

🎥 A look behind the scenes

The making-of video offers impressions from an earlier shoot at the Homburg Paper Mill — a popular photography location in the Bergisches Land region.

Together with a photographer friend, I developed the first ideas for La Beauté du Ballet at this location. Even though I am not visible in the video myself, it provides a beautiful insight into the atmosphere I also envision for future shoots with dancers: focused, creative, and full of expression.
