Behind the Scenes
Behind the scenes — sometimes staged, often real, never boringHere I show moments as they truly happen behind the camera — from the barbecue during a shooting break to the final light measurement. Many of these images were captured spontaneously, while others were deliberately staged — especially with my models, who take the fun of creating images just as seriously as I do.
Simply behind the scenes — with everything that comes with it.
Not every photograph is created in a matter of seconds — often it’s many small, seemingly insignificant moments that shape the path to the final image. In my project Behind the Scenes, I focus on precisely these moments: quiet pauses, final light measurements, spontaneous encounters, creative improvisation, and the interaction on and off set.
Most of these images were created during my workshops — situations where photography is not just about taking pictures, but also about learning, experimenting, and working together. They show everyday life behind the camera: authentic, sometimes chaotic, often surprising, and always human.
Only a few images come from regular commissioned shoots — because behind-the-scenes photographs are often not desired in those contexts or simply not possible due to confidentiality. This makes the many images created with “my” models all the more important to me — some of whom I have worked with over many years. For me, they are more than just visual material; they are memories of shared creative processes, of trustful collaboration, and often of genuine friendships.
This gallery is a tribute to what often remains unseen: real life behind the camera — unpolished, honest, and up close.
